Main Admission Requirements for International Students Image

Admission Requirements for International Students

Applicants must submit proof of having earned the equivalent of a U.S. diploma at the appropriate level by a NACES approved credential evaluator. A document or general evaluation is sufficient unless the applicant desires to transfer post-secondary credit into JIU which requires a course-by-course evaluation.

Highest Degree earned requirements:

  • Associate/Bachelor program applicants: attestation of secondary program completion
  • Masters level program applicants: bachelor's degree
  • Doctorate program applicants: master's degree

Applicants Seeking to Transfer Post-Secondary credit into JIU (Undergraduate and Graduate)

A course-by-course evaluation of all academic credit earned from an institution outside of the United States is required to process post-secondary credit transfer requests. JIU accepts evaluations performed by any NACES approved provider and specifically recommends the following organizations:

  • Office of International Education Services, American Association of Collegiate Registrar, and Admission Officers (AACRAO) in Washington, D.C. For more information, contact the JIU Admissions Office.
  • ECE – Educational Credential Evaluators, Inc.
  • WES - World Educating Services

If the academic records are in a language other than English, a literal English translation is required and must be submitted together with the original language version per the requirements of the evaluator you select.

For more information, call JIU's Admissions Office at 800.811.5663 in the U.S. or +1.303.784.8904 outside the U.S. or send an email to info@international.edu.

United States Federal Student Aid is not available to non U.S. citizens.
