BA715 introduces the process of initiating, completing, and effectively communicating applied business decision-making. Emphasis is on the application of financial and non-financial information to a wide range of business decisions. An overview of financial reporting and analysis is covered. Financing, investing, Intercorporate investments and operating activities are covered. A variety of financial decision-making tools will be utilized in the analysis of these decision-making processes (e.g., problem and hypothesis testing and resolution). The financial measurements will include tools such as break-even analysis (as used in profit planning), activity-based costing procedures, resource allocation, the balanced scorecard framework, and utilizing expertise from professional networks (e.g., colleagues, professors, selected professionals). Problem identification, analysis (e.g., hypothesis building and testing), and resolution will be applied to current unresolved practical and professional business problems.
