BC 475: Organizational Training and Development

Overview

Historically, training has been around as long as there have been people. For generations, organizations have attempted to achieve measurable results by making training more effective and more efficient. As the process of globalization accelerates, ongoing modifications in technology and its profound impact on organizations and employees will establish training and development as an increasingly important course of study whether or not one pursues a formal career in organizational training. Your primary objective in this course will be to complete a personalized training program for your business (real or hypothetical) that effectively incorporates each phase of the ADDIE instructional model, including Analyze, Design, Develop, and Evaluate.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  • Identify performance gaps between your organization's desired outcomes and employee's current skill set and select one significant performance gap to be used as a basis for your course long project.
  • Design a training solution that meets desired goals and objectives based on implementation of the Design phase of the ADDIE instructional model,
  • Create training materials that will enable trainees the opportunity to learn and apply new skills required to close a performance gap.
  • Develop a plan for the Implementation phase of the ADDIE instructional model.
  • Analyze the effectiveness of the training program, noting major strengths and challenges, based on implementation of the Evaluation phase of the ADDIE instructional model.
  • Conduct online research related to organizational training & development and the ADDIE instructional model and critically evaluate those resources.
