EDU-M 711A: Mentoring: Policy & the Dissertation I

Estimated Hours Per Week: 5

Overview

The purpose of the second session of mentoring is to ensure that EdD students situate their chosen topic areas within the greater contexts of local, state, federal and international policies. Students become education leaders whose projects demonstrate awareness of their personal interests as well as those of others. Students increase the likelihood that their projects have maximum impact on the field of education.

Students write a concise outline to an introduction to a dissertation that includes a problem statement; makes clear the research question to be addressed; describes the motivation for the study; describes the context in which the question arises; summarizes the (anticipated) dissertation’s findings; discusses the (anticipated) importance of the findings; and provides a roadmap for readers.
